Energy security - Alternatives to alternative energy production
Topic: There is no question that energy is our daily need. Until the not too distant past, the constant availability of energy resources at affordable prices was also a basic premise in our lives. However, climate change, the depletion of natural resources and inter-state conflicts and dependencies are challenging energy systems, which must be prepared to respond quickly. Infrastructure and commercial resilience are needed, and inaction could have serious consequences for entire regions. Of course, one might think, renewables are here to stay. However, there is a term that may sound unfamiliar at the moment, Dunkelflaute, or dark lull, which refers to periods when renewable energy, wind and sunshine are not available. There are ways to prepare for this phenomenon, and the solutions and how Hungary is affected will be discussed at the Infoparliament.
